Expedia www.expedia.co.uk  Open Site in New Window

Expedia review: In our view, Expedia provides the greatest range of flights, hotels, car hire, and other holidays of all the online travel centres. Even our obscure flight across the middle of Russia was accurately planned and booked. Very smart.

123-Reg www.123-reg.co.uk  Open Site in New Window
Rating: 5 Stars
123-Reg review: For a long time Easily has been the best place to register domain names, but now we find ourselves using 123-Reg more frequently. They have an excellent registration and domain management process, and the domain prices are very low. They are also closely linked with the excellent Webfusion hosting company.

BBC News: On This Day http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthi...  Open Site in New Window
Rating: 5 Stars
BBC News: On This Day review: In typically slick BBC style, this site offers a different view of the BBC news archives, offering events that occurred on a particular day of the year. Includes video and 'contextual' information - e.g. how has the story developed since.

JobTrack www.jobtrack.co.uk  Open Site in New Window
Rating: 5 Stars
JobTrack review: Run by the same company as JobMagic, with the same jobs and the same search mechanism. Good, effective searching, which narrows down jobs to a reasonable degree. Critically, the search results also list the key information such as location and salary. Details pages offer substantial information about the jobs and links to the recruitment company, and to apply online.

UseIt www.useit.com  Open Site in New Window
Rating: 5 Stars
UseIt review: In simple style, Web guru Jakob Nielsen presents his guide to usability on the web. This site should be required reading for all web designers, novice or on their third IPO. Five years of web design expertise just can't be argued with.

Google Answers http://answers.google.com  Open Site in New Window
Rating: 5 Stars
Google Answers review: Google provide lots of additional services beyond their excellent search engine. A good example is 'Google Answers', which allows you to post questions for qualified researchers to investigate. You say how much you are willing to pay (from $2 up to $200, charged to your credit card) and they will come back with a response. If you have any queries you can request clarification, and the researchers seem desperate to maintain their high review ratings, so will make sure they get the answer spot on. If you are not satisfied with an answer you can request a refund. Note: Google manage all the transactions, not the individual, although you can award a tip if you are particularly impressed.

Deliverance www.deliverance.co.uk  Open Site in New Window

Wimbledon Championships www.wimbledon.org  Open Site in New Window
Rating: 5 Stars
Wimbledon Championships review: The official Wimbledon site is a quality affair, including the expected latest scores and order of play. Also featured are live (though slowly updated) pictures from the main courts, and video interviews with the winners after each match. IBM collect incredibly detailed statistics for each match (what dull a job that must be), and they're all here, player-by-player, set-by-set. Top site.

Hermitage Museum www.hermitagemuseum.org  Open Site in New Window
Rating: 5 Stars
Hermitage Museum review: One of the world's great art galleries, the collection at the Hermitage in St Petersburg ranges from early Russian archaeology to medieval Italian armour to the Impressionists. Some great search tools, including search by colour layout - e.g. find a picture with blue sea, white cliffs, and a lighthouse. Loads of other great features as well. Top site.

Total Jobs www.totaljobs.com  Open Site in New Window

Tradedoubler www.tradedoubler.com  Open Site in New Window
Rating: 5 Stars
Tradedoubler review: Place banners on your site and get a percentage of the profits of any visitors to those sites. So if someone clicks a BT advert on your site, and then goes to sign up for broadband, you'll get a pound or two. Sign-up with TradeDoubler and then select from their large range of advertisers. Probably the most robust of the affiliate programmes, free to join for you, but very expensive for the advertisers, so probably gets a greater number of 'blue chip' merchants.

Google www.google.co.uk  Open Site in New Window

PHP.net www.php.net  Open Site in New Window
Rating: 5 Stars
PHP.net review: Offical site of the PHP Programming Language, providing a huge depth of information on PHP, easy search methods, clearly laid out function reference information, and user comments and additions. Why doesn't Microsoft have anything so clear and useful?
