DVD Online Sale www.dvd-online-sale.com

DVD Online Sale review: Yet another front end for Amazon - total waste of time.

MeetMeMap www.meetmemap.com
Rating: 1 Star
MeetMeMap review: This site starts with a good premise: you specify the location of your meeting, and MeetMeMap will give you a URL which you can send to your friends. They just enter where they are coming from, and MeetMeMap gives you directions. Unfortunately we couldn't get it to work. There seem to be too few rules on how much address information you have to give, but even when we entered all we had, the thing just threw it back at us without any sort of error message. So, good idea, but pretty useless for us. If you've had more luck then please let us know how to get it working!

Home Electronics Sale www.home-electronics-sale.com
Rating: 1 Star
Home Electronics Sale review: And another pointless use of Amazon's web services module front end. Just go direct to Amazon or one of the other sites listed on UKHelpdesk.

Virtual World Direct www.virtualworlddirect.com
Rating: 1 Star
Virtual World Direct review: Fantastic! It's a long time since we came across a site which truly deserved a place on The Grim List, but now we found an absolute peach.

We all know (don't we?) that your chances of winning the lottery are very small, and that you'd be much better off putting the money somewhere else (actually, down the back of the sofa is generally more profitable). So the only time you really want to play is for a laugh on a Saturday evening. So given these extremely slim chances of winning, it's not rocket science to understand that a company wanting to turn a profit out of your £1 entry fee is ultimately going to reduce your 'return on investment' even further.

Well not only do these people - Virtual World Direct - take £5 off you a week to put into a lottery syndicate, they also offer you the chance to make a few quid inviting all your friends to join this ridiculous scheme.

But what really draws us to this website is the care and attention that's gone into building the sites. There are beautifully narrated movies showing you how your winnings will build up; and tables of the fortunes you can make.

We won't provide a link, but if you're in need of some entertainment, do have a look, just don't sign up, please!

Easy PC Direct www.easypcdirect.co.uk
Rating: 1 Star
Easy PC Direct review: Crashes Internet Explorer on opening, deadly dull when you do access it (Netscape). Very cheap PC's. We've no clue how well they work, and they've only been around since August 2001.

Funny Fair www.funnyfair.com
Rating: 1 Star
Funny Fair review: Barely made it through this one without topping myself. But having been through every show I can honestly say that not one brought the merest smile to my face. Collection of flash animations and accompanying music, much nabbed from other sites.

RemoveYou www.removeyou.com
Rating: 1 Star
RemoveYou review: Purports to remove you from its members spam lists. Having submitted an email address we expectantly waited for a reduction in spam. No such luck, even with spam emails which say they adhere to Removeyou standards. Emails to Removeyou for further information have not been answered. There are sites around which promise to remove you from emailing lists, only to add you to more. Avoid.

Job Search www.jobsearch.co.uk
Rating: 1 Star
Job Search review: Apparently designed with employers rather than potential employees in mind. Lacking any sort of search facilities beyond 'keywords', though the small number of jobs means you generally only get half a dozen vacancies anyway. There are so many better sites around, don't bother with this one.
